There are a large variety of accounting packages and software available and the good news is that much of it is getting cheaper because of the competition.
It is useful to draw up a specification of what you want the software to achieve and the sort of reports you will require. If you are about to start up a new business it is probably best to keep computerised accounting records from the start.

Also is it capable of growing with your business? What sort of support is available if anything goes wrong? Are there lots of other users out there?

Try speaking to people who are already using the software you are interested in. They will hopefully give you the reality of using the package including advantages and disadvantages.
